Terms of Service

Version 2026-09-06 · Effective 6 September 2026

DRAFT — NOT YET REVIEWED BY A LAWYER. Every [[PLACEHOLDER]] below must be filled in, and the whole document must be read by a licensed attorney, before Frithon accepts a registration from anybody outside the pilot church. See docs/LEGAL_CONSENT.md for the list of open questions.

1. Who we are

Frithon ("Frithon", "we", "us") is a scheduling service for church ministries, operated by LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME of REGISTERED_ADDRESS. You can reach us at CONTACT_EMAIL.

2. What these terms cover

These Terms are the agreement between you and Frithon for your use of www.frithon.com and any related pages. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account — there is no part of Frithon that requires an account and is available without one.

Two other documents form part of this agreement, and you are asked to accept them separately at registration: the Privacy Notice and the Cookie Notice.

3. Your account

You need an account to be scheduled to serve. To create one you give us your first and last name, an email address, a telephone number and a password.

You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at CONTACT_EMAIL if you think somebody else has it.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account yourself. If you are younger than that, a leader in your church can still place you on a schedule as a named volunteer without an account — ask them. We explain why in the Privacy Notice.

4. Your church holds your data too

Frithon is used by churches. When you join a church on Frithon, the leaders and administrators of that church can see your name, your photograph if you upload one, your contact details, and the record of when you have served. They decide who serves when. We provide the software; they run the ministry.

This matters for two practical reasons:

  • If you want something changed or removed and it concerns your service in a church, your church's administrator is usually the fastest person to ask.
  • If you exercise a legal right against us — for instance a request to delete — we will act on our own systems, and we will tell your church, but we do not control what your church has separately written down elsewhere.

5. What you agree not to do

Do not use Frithon to break the law, to harass anybody, to upload material you have no right to upload, to try to reach data belonging to people or churches other than your own, or to interfere with the service working for other people.

Do not use another person's account, and do not let anybody use yours.

6. Taking a place is a commitment

Frithon is built on a rule its churches asked for: signing up for a place is a commitment, not a reservation. Putting your name down is free. Taking it back is not automatic — you either find your own replacement, with your leader's approval, or you ask your leader to release you and they decide.

This is a rule of the product, not a legal obligation we will enforce against you. It exists because somebody has to be there on Sunday.

7. Your content

Anything you upload — your photograph, your notes — remains yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to the people in your church who need to see it, for as long as you have an account. That permission ends when the content is deleted.

8. The service will change

We add features, remove features and change how things look. We will give reasonable notice of a change that materially reduces what you can do. Frithon is early software: expect rough edges, and please report them.

9. Ending the agreement

You may delete your account at any time from your settings, or by writing to CONTACT_EMAIL. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us.

10. No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you

Frithon is provided "as is". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not promise it will never lose data — keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with Frithon is limited to LIABILITY_CAP. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. What these terms cannot do

Nothing in this agreement waives or limits any right you have under the California Consumer Privacy Act or any other privacy law. California Civil Code §1798.192 makes any such waiver void, and we are not attempting one. If any part of this document appears to conflict with a right you have under those laws, the right wins and that part does not apply.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of GOVERNING_STATE and the United States. DISPUTE_RESOLUTION_CLAUSE — arbitration? small claims carve-out? class-action waiver? This is the clause most likely to be unenforceable if drafted carelessly, and it needs a lawyer's judgement rather than a template.

13. Changes to these terms

When we change these documents in a way that changes their meaning, we bump the version at the top of this page, tell you by email, and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. We keep every version.
